Pourpoint of Charles de Blois

Pourpoint of Charles de Blois
Crafted for my husband Christmas, 2009. Worn to Atlantia’s Twelfth night in January, 2010.  Although I’m not usually into matchy-matchy clothing, I had enough of the brocade leftover that I thought a matching hood for myself would be cute!

I used Tasha Kelly’s pattern for this, since I was still in school and simply didn’t have time to draft a pattern AND make the garment.  The pattern fit very true to size – I had to take it up at the shoulders just a bit, but otherwise there were no alterations necessary.  The fabric was purchased in the Los Angeles fabric district back in 2006, and had been reserved for a pirate coat…. but since we don’t really go to faire much, I thought the pourpoint might get a little more use.

Hand-sewn eyelets down the front, hand finishing, but machined seams.  Overall, I’m fairly pleased with this project!

Materials: Poly/cotton chenille brocade, lined in copper silk. Buttons cast by Chris Cunning.
